Zoho Desk pricing explained: Free, Express, Standard, Professional and Enterprise, and which tier you actually need
Short answer
Zoho Desk has five editions: Free (3 users), Express (up to 5 users), Standard, Professional and Enterprise. Zoho localises prices by region; the official Zoho Desk pricing page as served to us in India on Nov 3, 2026 showed Express at ₹420, Standard at ₹800, Professional at ₹1,400 and Enterprise at ₹2,400 per user per month billed annually (₹540, ₹1,300, ₹2,100 and ₹3,200 billed monthly), plus local taxes. Your page may show a different currency and amount. The plan decision is easier than the price list suggests: Express suits a micro team on email and social; Standard is the first tier with a public knowledge base, community, instant messaging and up to 4 SLAs; Professional is where most growing support teams land, because it adds Blueprints, multi-department, Zia field predictions and native generative AI, telephony, round-robin assignment, approvals, parent-child tickets and webhooks; Enterprise is for teams that need skill-based routing, Guided Conversations, multi-brand help centres, custom modules, sandbox, audit log or many Blueprints per department. If you need Blueprint or more than one department, Standard is not enough.

Who this guide is for
This guide is for support leads, founders and operations managers choosing a Zoho Desk edition for a customer support team, typically between 3 and 100 agents. It is also for teams already on Zoho Desk who are wondering whether to upgrade, and for anyone comparing Zoho Desk's price list with Freshdesk or Zendesk.
All prices and plan limits here come from two official Zoho pages, checked on Nov 3, 2026: the Zoho Desk pricing page and the Zoho Desk plan comparison page. The Express user limit is also stated on the Zoho Desk Express page. Opinions about which tier fits which team are ours, from implementing and running help desks, and are labelled as such.
Zoho Desk pricing is geo-localised
Zoho shows prices in your local currency, and amounts differ by region. Our checks were served Indian rupee (INR) prices, so every price in this guide is in INR. We could not retrieve the US dollar price list from Zoho's official pricing page from our location, so we do not quote USD prices. Open the pricing page from your own region to see your figures. Plan structure and limits were the same across the pages we checked; amounts and taxes are what change.
Zoho Desk prices by edition (checked on Nov 3, 2026)
The table shows the prices on Zoho's official pricing and plan comparison pages as served in India on Nov 3, 2026, per user per month. Zoho adds local taxes (GST in India) on top.
| Edition | Billed annually | Billed monthly | User limit | Light agents |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | ₹0 | ₹0 | 3 users | Not available |
| Express | ₹420 | ₹540 | 5 users | Not available |
| Standard | ₹800 | ₹1,300 | Unlimited | Add-on ₹345 per light agent per month |
| Professional | ₹1,400 | ₹2,100 | Unlimited | Add-on ₹345 per light agent per month |
| Enterprise | ₹2,400 | ₹3,200 | Unlimited | 50 free, then add-on ₹345 per light agent per month |
A few things on the pricing page are worth reading carefully:
- Annual billing is cheaper. The page says annual prices reflect a discount for up-front annual commitment and advertises savings of up to 34 percent against monthly billing. The gap is largest on Standard (₹800 vs ₹1,300).
- Light agents are users who collaborate internally, for example viewing tickets and leaving comments, without handling full support work. The plan comparison page lists them as a ₹345 add-on on Standard and Professional, and the Enterprise edition includes 50 free. (The pricing page FAQ text mentions light agents for Professional and Enterprise; the comparison table also lists the add-on on Standard. Confirm in your account before you plan around Standard light agents.)
- Free trial. Zoho offers a 15-day free trial of any paid edition with no credit card, after which the account downgrades to the Free edition unless you buy a plan.
- Discounts. The pricing page says there is special pricing for non-profits and educational institutions.
- Extra departments. Enterprise can add departments beyond the 50 included, up to a maximum of 450, at ₹360 per department per month billed annually or ₹420 monthly, according to the plan comparison page.
A note on the user limits
The plan comparison table lists the user limit as 3 for Free, 5 for Express, and unlimited for Standard, Professional and Enterprise, and the Express page states that "Express is limited to 5 users". One FAQ answer on the pricing page says paid plans increase the limit "to 5 users in Standard". We treat the comparison table as the reference, but if your team is close to five agents and you are choosing between Express and Standard, confirm the limit with Zoho before you buy.
What each edition adds
Zoho's pricing page describes each edition as "everything in" the previous one plus a set of features. Here is the summary in practical terms, drawn from the pricing page and the plan comparison page.
Free
Email ticketing, a private knowledge base for agents, basic help centre, contact and account management, an agent dashboard, and 3 users. No custom fields, no workflows, no reports beyond the agent dashboard, and default (non-editable) roles and profiles. It is a genuine free tier for very small teams, but you will outgrow it as soon as you need automation or reporting.
Express
Described by Zoho as "micro business essentials": email across multiple channels (2 email channels on the comparison table), social media (X, Facebook, Instagram for one brand), web forms, AI agents with Zoho's in-house models, generative AI with your own API key (BYOK), direct assignment, one workflow rule per module, multi-level escalations, custom domain and contact management. Up to 5 users.
Standard
Adds business messaging (live chat for logged-in users), instant messaging (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, WeChat and LINE, one channel each), Answer Bot, community forums, work modes, a public knowledge base, the ASAP self-service widget, customer happiness ratings, and custom reports and dashboards. The comparison page lists 4 SLAs, 5 workflow rules per module, 5 email channels, 50 custom fields per module, and 5 profiles and 5 roles.
Professional
Adds telephony, Zia AI, Blueprints, multi-department, round-robin assignment, custom lookup fields, a multilingual help centre, parent-child ticketing, custom actions and webhooks. The comparison page also shows approvals, team ownership, ticket sharing, scheduled replies, teams, field-level access control, agent collision detection, SLA dashboards and global (all-department) reports at this tier.
Enterprise
Adds live chat through Zoho SalesIQ, Guided Conversations, skill-based assignment, multi-level IVR, multi-brand help centres, custom modules, and a sandbox. The comparison page also lists audit log, layout and validation rules, multi-layout, schedules, contract and support plans, custom functions (Deluge) in workflows and Blueprints, field encryption, scheduled reports and Zia dashboards at this tier.
The features that usually decide the tier
In our experience, five capability areas decide most Zoho Desk edition choices. This grid uses the limits published on Zoho's plan comparison page on Nov 3, 2026.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blueprints (active) | No | No | No | 1 per department | 20 per department |
| Departments | No multi-department | No multi-department | No multi-department | Up to 10 | Up to 50 (add-ons to 450) |
| SLAs | Default | Default | 4 | 10 per department | 20 per department |
| Workflow rules | No | 1 per module (tickets only) | 5 per module | 15 per department per module | 30 per department per module |
| Zia field predictions | No | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Generative AI | No | BYOK | BYOK | BYOK and native | BYOK and native |
| Round-robin assignment | No | No | No | Yes (10 per department) | Yes (15 per department) |
| Skill-based assignment | No | No | No | No | Yes |
| Approvals | No | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Telephony | No | No | No | Yes | Yes (plus multi-level IVR) |
| Webhooks | No | No | No | 5 active | 10 active |
| Sandbox | No | No | No | No | 3 |
| Audit log | No | No | No | No | Yes |
| Custom fields per module | None | 10 | 50 | 150 | 230 |
Ticket tags, macros, email channels, web forms, help centre widgets, API credits and data import batch sizes also step up by edition. Check the full comparison page for the limits that matter to you.
Blueprint: the feature that most often forces Professional
Zoho describes Blueprints as "a user-friendly drag-and-drop automation builder" that creates sequences of actions, where each step is executed in order once activated. In practice, a Blueprint enforces a process: a refund request must go through verification, approval and payment in that order; a technical escalation must collect diagnostics before engineering picks it up.
According to the plan comparison page, Blueprints are not available on Free, Express or Standard. Professional allows one active Blueprint per department, with up to 20 transitions per Blueprint. Enterprise allows 20 active Blueprints per department, up to 100 transitions each, and adds custom functions in Blueprints and strict mode controls.
Our view
If you have one regulated or high-risk process per department, Professional's single Blueprint per department is often enough, especially if you can split work across departments. If you need several enforced processes in the same department, for example refunds, cancellations and warranty claims, plan for Enterprise or design so that only the riskiest process uses a Blueprint and the rest use workflow rules.
Multi-department: when Standard stops working
Zoho's multi-department feature lets you organise the help desk into departments and carry out department-specific or global actions from one screen. Each department can have its own agents, SLAs, workflows and layouts. On the plan comparison page, multiple department support starts on Professional with up to 10 departments, and Enterprise supports 50, with more available as add-ons up to 450.
Teams usually need departments for one of three reasons: separate product lines or brands, separate functions (support, billing, returns), or separate regions with different hours and languages. If any of those apply now or in the next year, Standard will be a short stay. Moving up later is possible, but it is easier to design departments in from the start than to split one queue into several after go-live.
Departments also matter for migrations. Zoho's migration tool, Zwitch, imports into one department only, as our Zendesk to Zoho Desk migration guide explains; plan your department design before you migrate.
Zia and generative AI: what you get at each tier
Zoho's AI comes in three layers on the comparison page, and the tier you need depends on which you want.
- AI agents through Zia Agent Studio, listed with Zoho's in-house models at up to 30 million tokens per month. The pricing page lists AI agents from Express up.
- Generative AI for summaries, insights, reply assistance, writing assistance and article generation. Express and Standard support it with your own API key (BYOK; OpenAI in most data centres, according to the pricing page). Professional and Enterprise add native generative AI as well as BYOK.
- Zia intelligence such as field predictions, which the comparison page shows on Professional and Enterprise. Zia Actions and the Zia dashboard are Enterprise-only.
Our view: if your AI plan is "draft better replies and summarise long threads", BYOK on Standard may be enough, provided your security team is comfortable connecting an external model. If you want AI that classifies and routes tickets automatically, budget for Professional.
Which tier you actually need
Here is our practical decision guide. It is opinion, built from what we see teams actually use after go-live.
| Your situation | Edition we would start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 agents, email only, no reporting needs | Free | It works; upgrade when you need automation |
| Up to 5 agents, email and social, simple rules | Express | Cheapest paid tier with workflows and escalations |
| 6 to 15 agents, one team, need a public knowledge base, chat or WhatsApp | Standard | Self-service, IM channels and 4 SLAs at a low price |
| Any size with more than one product, brand function or region | Professional | Multi-department starts here |
| Need an enforced process (refunds, warranty, compliance) | Professional | First tier with Blueprint |
| Phone support is a real channel | Professional | Telephony starts here |
| Need skill-based routing, several Blueprints per department, sandbox or audit log | Enterprise | These are Enterprise-only |
| Multiple brands with separate help centres | Enterprise | Multi-brand help centre is Enterprise-only |
Mixing editions
Zoho's pricing page does not describe mixing editions within one account, so plan on one edition for all full agents and use light agents for occasional collaborators where the edition allows them.
Monthly or annual?
Annual billing is materially cheaper on every paid edition. Our advice: run the 15-day trial, then a month or two on monthly billing if you are unsure of the agent count, and switch to annual once the team size is stable.
What the bill looks like for common team sizes
These examples simply multiply the published annual INR per-user prices by agent count, before taxes. They are arithmetic on Zoho's list prices, not quotes, and your regional price may differ.
| Team | Standard (₹800) | Professional (₹1,400) | Enterprise (₹2,400) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 agents | ₹8,000 per month | ₹14,000 per month | ₹24,000 per month |
| 25 agents | ₹20,000 per month | ₹35,000 per month | ₹60,000 per month |
| 50 agents | ₹40,000 per month | ₹70,000 per month | ₹1,20,000 per month |
Add light agents where you need them (₹345 each per month on the comparison page, with 50 free on Enterprise), any extra departments on Enterprise, telephony provider charges, and WhatsApp's own usage-based charges, which the comparison page notes are applied by WhatsApp.
Common mistakes when choosing a Zoho Desk edition
These are the patterns we see most often when teams pick an edition and then have to change course. None is fatal, but each costs time.
- Choosing Standard for a team that already has two functions. If billing questions and technical support are handled by different people with different SLAs, you have two departments, and departments start on Professional. Teams that force both into one Standard queue end up with complicated assignment rules and reports that need constant filtering.
- Assuming workflow rules can replace Blueprint. Workflow rules react to conditions; a Blueprint enforces the order of steps and can require fields at each transition. If an auditor or a finance team needs to see that a refund was approved before it was paid, a workflow rule is the wrong tool.
- Underestimating custom fields. Express allows 10 custom fields per module and Standard 50, according to the plan comparison page. A team that migrates from a mature help desk with dozens of ticket fields can hit those limits faster than expected. Count your fields before you migrate.
- Paying full-agent prices for occasional users. Finance, engineering or sales colleagues who only need to read and comment on tickets can often be light agents on editions that offer them, rather than full users.
- Committing to annual billing before the team size is known. Annual is cheaper, but if you are still hiring or consolidating teams, a short period on monthly billing can avoid paying for seats you do not need.
- Forgetting channel charges. WhatsApp and telephony carry provider charges outside Zoho's per-user price. Include them in the budget.
Upgrading and downgrading
Zoho's pricing page says you can change plans during the trial, and that paid editions can be billed monthly or annually. It also describes upgrading from Free as unlocking more users, light users and features. It does not set out downgrade terms in detail, so if you think you may move down a tier later, ask Zoho how configuration that depends on higher-tier features (Blueprints, extra departments, custom modules) is handled before you build on it.
Data migration is included
The pricing page says Zoho's experts can guide you through migrating from another help desk for free, and the plan comparison page lists migration from other help desks on all paid editions. That covers the data move, not the redesign of your workflows, SLAs and macros, which is usually the larger piece of work.
Best for, and wrong choice when
Zoho Desk is best for
Cost-conscious support teams that want a lot of capability per rupee or dollar; companies already using Zoho CRM or other Zoho apps; teams that need multi-department and enforced processes at a mid-tier price; businesses in India and other markets where Zoho's local pricing and data centres are an advantage.
Zoho Desk is the wrong choice when
You need internal IT service management with problem, change and asset management (look at ITSM tools instead); your team relies heavily on a specific app marketplace or integrations that Zoho does not support; you want the most mature AI agent platform regardless of cost; you need to self-host.
If you are weighing Zoho Desk against Freshdesk, our Freshdesk vs Zoho Desk guide compares them for teams of 5 to 50 agents.
